BS.476 Part 21, describes how to test the fire resistance of loadbearing beams, columns, floors, flat roofs and walls using the heating and pressure conditions of BS.476-20. It includes guidance on, specimen selection, design and construction, loading and restraint conditions, equipment, procedures and criteria applicable to loadbearing speciments.
The method is also used to determine the ability of a fire protection product to protect (insulate) structural steelwork. such products include: intumescent coatings, board, casings and spray applied non-reactive coatings.
The FIREFLY TITAN system achieves this for both timber and steel in a single layer when installed according to the FIREFLY recommended installation drawings for Part.21.
